Summer Bishil was born in New York City. Her most well-known role is her character, Margo Hanson on Syfy's fantasy drama The Magicians. Her previous work was recognized as the character of a 13-year-old Lebanese-American girl Jasira Maroun as she goes through a series of turbulent personal struggles against set against the backdrop of the U.S. war in Iraq during the Gulf War in the Alan Ball film Towelhead. The subsequent recognition as one of Variety's Top 10 Actors of 2007 also came as a huge recognition. The year 2009 was the time she portrayed the formidable Taslima in the film Crossing Over. She was nominated in the Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead for this film. The other roles in her film include the film Moozlum The Last Airbender Pop Star, Under the Silver Lake and a number of guest appearances on television. After graduating from high school, she enrolled at the University of Florida and studied journalism. As well, she studied for a degree at The University of Miami.
